Our mission at Blu Meadow Ag is to provide you with tier one products that will enhance your crops, thus profitability while supporting a sustainable platform.

Our first product to market is ground/crushed mussel shells. These have tested as high as 48% calcium content and has proven to be a front runner for the agricultural operations we have dealt with and is gaining traction on awareness, as increasingly, we are being contacted by Ag consultants interested in the applications and real results, we have been creating, for the producers using to date.

Mussel (shells) are not anything new. We have not invented the wheel here, we just turned it full circle. They have been used as soil enhancements over any years in many parts of the world as they can be accessed and utilized with relative ease. In the recent last half century or so, much of these natural products have been replaced with manufactured/mined PH Fixers and fertilizing products as they become easier to handle and access. The shellfish industry on PEI was not as large then, but has now expanded exponentially and therefore one of the products of this industry is cull mussels that cannot be brought to market. This happens in every supply industry going to market, only the products passing inspection are utilized.

This culmination of exponential growth in the shellfish industry and the cull requires has brought forth a great opportunity for growers as we can now offer and incorporate these shells and bodies into a multitude of useful materials, as they are rich in calcium and loaded with many other micronutrients essential for good soil health.

One more very notable function of the use of these shells is the wash of nutrients that naturally happens with snow melt and rain fall that spills out into the waterways and river mouths where the shell beds and leases are held. The mollusks in turn absorb much of this as a food source, then when harvested, the cull portion if processed and returned to the soil through agricultural entities using them for their soil needs.

Full circle enhancement reduces a considerable amount of truck traffic required to haul additional products to our island by utilizing a resource that we have in abundance already and continue to grow proportionally with the shellfish industry here on PEI and in the Maritimes.
